Mister Gee Burger Truck

There are some things in life that are worth waiting for - and one of those things is a good burger. Instagram told me that there was a legendary burger at Mister Gee Burger Truck, and so one Saturday we went in search of The Truffe.

I'd heard about the popularity of The Truffe burger at Mister Gee's and how they can sell out quickly. To make sure we didn't miss out, we arrived half an hour before the truck was due to set up. Dedication right there...

Mister Gee Menu

The menu is short and sweet, with one burger, one drink and one type of fries available each time. This makes ordering a breeze - "One of everything, please!" There's also the option of getting a double patty for an extra $3, which I highly encourage!

Baklava shake - $6

As soon as the truck opens, the orders start flowing and the kitchen starts pumping out food. The drinks are the first to come out, and we happy sip on the sweet, creamy shake with chunks of baklava mixed throughout while we wait for the rest of the food.

Dirty fries and baklava shakes

It's about 20-30 minutes until our number is called and we collect our burgers and fries. We put everything on the table and dig in whilst others who are still waiting for their food look on hungrily.

Dirty fries - $5

The dirty fries are a generous serve of golden fries, decked out with cheddar cheese, diced fresh tomato and special sauce. It's a bit messy to eat but I reckon it could be even better with more sauce and more cheese!

The Truffe - $10 + extra patty $3

It's the burgers which are the star of the show though. The Truffe burger comes wrapped lovingly in foil and placed in a square container for easy eating. We all get double beef patties loaded with cheese, rocket and truffle aioli.

This is one incredible burger. The beef patties are perfectly cooked - juicy in the centre but with a nice crust on the outside. I hate when you get cheese on a burger and it's just slapped on at the end without any melty goodness - but there's none of that here. Mister Gee puts on just the right amount of cheese and it's melted all over the beef patty. It's the aioli which really rounds it all off nicely, adding to the juicyness of the burger and adding an amazing truffle flavour.

Innards of The Truffe

We waited about half an hour for the truck to arrive and set up, and another half an hour to get our food. But was it worth the wait? Absolutely. The Truffe at Mister Gee is one of my new favourite burgers in Sydney and I can't believe it's taken me this long to get to it. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out!
